How HAF Is Funded

Community Support That Helps Preserve Homes and Build Futures

Home Advocates Foundation is built on the belief that families facing foreclosure, displacement, or housing instability deserve more than temporary relief. They deserve meaningful support, stable housing opportunities, and a path toward long-term recovery.

HAF’s work is made possible through charitable contributions, mission-aligned partnerships, grants, sponsorships, in-kind support, and other lawful funding sources that advance our charitable purpose.

Every contribution helps strengthen our ability to support homeowners, preserve housing stability, restore distressed properties, and create opportunities for families to rebuild.

Our Funding Sources

Individual Donations

Gifts from individuals help HAF respond to the urgent needs of homeowners and families affected by foreclosure, mortgage hardship, displacement, and housing instability.

Individual contributions may help support free mortgage-modification assistance, homeowner education, legal-defense initiatives, housing-stability services, and charitable housing programs.

Support Through Home Information Support (H.I.S.)

HAF proudly works alongside Home Information Support (H.I.S.), an independent homeowner education and research organization.

A portion of earnings generated through select H.I.S. products and services may be donated to HAF to help advance our charitable mission. Through this relationship, individuals who use H.I.S. educational resources may also help support HAF’s work to preserve housing opportunities and assist families in need.

Grants and Charitable Gifts

HAF may seek support from private foundations, community foundations, charitable trusts, faith-based organizations, government programs, and other grant-making institutions whose priorities align with housing stability, foreclosure prevention, consumer protection, community development, and family self-sufficiency.

Corporate and Community Partnerships

Businesses, financial institutions, real estate professionals, contractors, housing providers, and community organizations may support HAF through sponsorships, charitable giving, program partnerships, donated services, and collaborative community initiatives.

These partnerships can help expand access to safe housing, rehabilitation services, homeowner education, and practical support for families rebuilding after financial hardship.

In-Kind Contributions

Not every contribution must be financial. HAF may also accept donated goods, professional services, materials, property-related resources, volunteer time, and other in-kind support that helps advance our programs.

Examples may include legal services, housing counseling, construction materials, contractor services, inspections, property-maintenance support, office resources, technology, furnishings, and community outreach assistance.

Program-Related Revenue

Where permitted and appropriate, HAF may generate and reinvest program-related revenue from charitable housing activities, including affordable rental arrangements, rehabilitation projects, and other mission-aligned housing initiatives.

Any such revenue is intended to help sustain and expand HAF’s ability to provide housing opportunities, preserve properties, and serve additional families in need.
